Another big one on the bucket list checked!
First vacation with Little Mr. B! He's both the world's cutest, and most cuddlie babe!
You figure CancĂșn, there's going to be resorts with serious food,
..and one or more serious bars,
...including a speakeasy disguised as a reading room.
...and the obligatory pools, poolside bars and palm trees.
The Aqua Gurls!!!
The resort turned out to be a great place for a vacation for adults with young children.
We didn't have time to hike in a rain forest, but we were able to trek to a cenote.
Cenotes are pretty increadible geological quirks.
This idea of looking up, this time from the heart of a cenote, was something we would expirence again when we visited and learned about the Mayans sacred tree, the Ceiba Penrandra, or Ceiba tree.
Our guide, Marciella took us to a place where we could if we wanted, buy souvenirs made by indigenous craftspeople. While there, she pointed out this tree .
I don't think it's is a Ceiba, but it has an interesting story, as it was struck by lightning, and for some time appeared to be dead. Supposing it was indeed dead, the community decided to cut a doorway into it, to make it a place for prayer and meditation. Some time later the tree begin to show signs of life, and is once again healthy and growing.
Thedra and I spent a quiet moment inside the tree, in addition to taking a selfie or two... But the view from inside was metaphorically the same as from inside the Cenote, a view from within the Earth's heart onto the Universe.
We have been super blessed in all our travels. We have yet to lose a bag. Weather is always good! And we have had so of the best guides.
We have been super good forture in all our travels, and especially we've had truly learned guides. Our guide Marciella is Mayan, speaks Mayan and has worked with National Geographic teams in Mexico. It was great to have her as our guide.
