- Stone Town Welcome - The Doors of Stone Town - Retreat in Matemwe - Loving the Indian Ocean -
Almost ten years ago, when I started to have serious grown folks' health scares, we decided to step out on faith and, as a family, live our ba-ba-best lives, amass the memories that would get us through, should something happen to one of us. That was China, 2009-ish, and so far as we know, tomorrow still isn't promised. So..., we go hard. Work hard and play hard, Life is a meat ball, make it fat or make it flat!
BeYonne raised concerns early that we not spend too much time in Stone Town, and hooked up accommodations on the fly in Matemwe. And it turned out to be the quintessential island getaway, complete without a bunch of boistrous, ill-mannered tourists.
We've been hitting out of the park this year with trips scheduled on the cusp of high or rainy seasons, whre we managed super cheap flights and accommodations, grand weather, and avoiding throngs of fellow tourists.
The property was fairly remote, by typical standard; so having a quite able chef, and interesting menu further contributed to the chill-ax imperative.
I didn't mind at all, being surprised with mango and/or avocado in dishes I wouldn't have thought to find them.
And everyone knows I don't complain about fresh ginger in my beer or in my cocktails!!!
On the beach and facing East and the Indian Ocean, the bar and veranda where meals were served..., perfect, especially for sunrise and breakfast. There are a lot of other places I hope to see, but I could see myself making the long trek back to Zanzibar. It's not just another pretty beach.
