2018 Trip to Ghana - Coming Home, Accra

- Coming Home, Accra - Mole National Park - Nkabom Grand Durbar - Chale Wote Festival - Cape Coast -

Well up North in the country, Mole National Park

As one travels North, the presence of Islam is more in evidence. Mercifully, Ghana has in the main, not had the problems, either with pseudo-Islamic rogue banditry, or violent provokations between Muslims and Christian. The contrary case might be made even, that certain pentecostal groups have been more disruptive in their zeal, than more mainstream denominations, Christian or Muslim

The construction technique used in this mosques is that used in the famed mosques' and buildings of Timbuktu, in Mali; to give you a sense of how far North we were

On route to Mole, we stopped briefly in Kumasi, and old and historically important city in Asante history. There Sammy and his family treated us to a delicious lunch and reunion, where we met his wonderful mother, who we look forward to meeting up with again soon, here in the States. And that's Arnold, Sammy's brother - as hardworking and successful as he is handsome!

The court yard at the place where we spent the night near Mole!

We had a busy iteinerary and cover a lot of miles, but it all served as time to bond and be as family. BeYonne, did you get photos of the food!!!

Waiting to be check in, I walk outside and notice this, probably 3" spider, chillin, totally un-phased by the people beheath her or him!

Land Rover cameo... too many of those terrible movies! The safari was great, as I felt I wans finally on the land, my feet had truly touch African soil.

Sammy, his cousin BK and Krayon. We had so much fun.

...That feeling you get when you know no photo can capture what you're experiencing.

You have no idea how huge an African bull elephant is until you're on the ground, in the bush, as an armed guide advises you to start walking back, slowly. And I'm not sure this one is a mature adult, or even a bull!

We saw this little fellow, not up north, but after coming south to Acra again, at a restaurant on route to a great festival.

Never even thought about pith helmets until I got back here, and the incident with Her Cluelessness...

Chilling by the pool after the safari, this is a very important photo! Arnold is all business, but twice I caught him smiling; once when he met up with his mother, and here, responding to something on one of his cell phones. So I can only imagine he has a business transaction in process on one line, and his wife is telling him a funny story on the other!

There were moments when my eyes welled up, warm with tears. Africa is powerful and amazing.
